On behalf of the Universal Peace Federation, we are pleased to invite you to participate in a special program of our Middle East Peace Initiative. This MEPI program will bring together approximately 70 religious leaders, academics and NGO delegates from around the world. The theme of the program is “Interfaith Dialogue and Cooperation for Peace and Development.”  The program is being convened in Jerusalem on May 12-16, 2014.

Along with UPF, the Women’s Federation for World Peace will co-sponsor this MEPI program, in honor the 10th anniversary of the “Women of Peace” program in Jerusalem, first convened a decade ago. Approximately 100 women leaders will participate in the WFWP program.

This MEPI program will include not only stimulating and informative briefings on critical issues facing the Middle East, but also an opportunity to visit the holy sites of the Old City, and other important venues in Jerusalem. In addition, on May 13 there is an optional tour of Galilee and a visit to a hospital that serves victims of the conflict in Syria.

Throughout the ten-year history of UPF’s Middle East Peace Initiative, we have consistently encouraged interfaith dialogue and cooperation. In addition, UPF has for thirteen years been advocating for the United Nations to build within its system an interfaith council of spiritual elders.

With this in mind, we believe this MEPI program provides a golden opportunity for us to come together as an international and interreligious group of leaders from various sectors, to listen and learn, to share and reflect on how we can serve as relevant, contribution stakeholders in the search for a solution to the crisis in the Middle East.

The expenses are the responsibility of the participant. These expenses include the airfare plus the overall cost for the hotel, meals, ground transportation, and tour package: $800 for those who arrive on May 12 and depart on May 16, and $670 for those who arrive on May 13 and depart on May 16.

We hope you will join us in Jerusalem. We look forward to your favorable reply.

tgw-smallerRespectfully yours,

Dr. Chang Shik Yang                                        Dr. Thomas G. Walsh
