On
May 22nd 2025 UPF organized a side event during the thirty-fourth session of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal
Justice (CCPCJ) on the topic
“CRIME PREVENTION HOUSE RULES
TO INTEGRATE IMMIGRANT COMMUNITIES FOR PEACE AND JUSTICE: CHALLENGES AND THE
WAY FORWARD”
The event by the Universal Peace Federation addressed challenges in
integrating immigrant children and youth, focusing on early education and
understanding host countries' legal norms. The discussion emphasized the need
to counter uncivil and criminal behaviour through three key strategies:
1. Fostering Trust in Education: To support integration, schools and
educators must build strong, trust-based relationships with immigrant students.
2. Teaching the Rule of Law: Legal norms should be promoted consistently
in educational settings, aligning with the UN Global Compact on Migration.
3. Defending Legal Norms Against Intolerance: Ongoing efforts are
essential to uphold these values and combat resistance to the Rule of Law.
These actions are vital for promoting peace, justice, and integration in
diverse societies and may interest the Fifteenth UN Congress on Crime
Prevention and Criminal Justice (Abu Dhabi, 25–30 April 2026).
